Full red. Knockout soil-driven nose offers red berries, mocha, licorice and musky underbrush. Firm but not hard, with concentrated, sweet red berry flavors offering impressive palate presence and energy. Tightly wound today but boasts a lovely light touch. The serious, juicy finish offers impressive punch. Very young and in need of at least seven or eight years of cellaring.

Bright ruby-red. Highly complex nose melds black fruits, coffee, minerals, game and earth. Ripe and rich but racy, with a surprisingly vibrant character to the flavors of chocolate and green tea. This young but round wine mounts subtly on the palate and finishes classy and long, with a late of note licorice. Quite suave and sweet.

Patrick Landanger added this parcel to the domaine in 1998, the year before he started making the wine himself. Very sweet aroma of black cherries and meatiness. Smooth and sweet. Slightly dead on the finish. Notable acid. Just a bit lifeless. (JR)
