Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting, Bouzereau's 2014 Meursault 1er Cru les Perrières did not quite exude the complexity of the Les Perrières from either Château de Meursault or Comtes-Lafon. It feels riper with more tropical tones that get in the way of mineralité. The palate is well balanced with touches of quince and marmalade, waxy in texture and with a finish that is pleasant but just a tad overworked. That said, I suspect that bottle age will temper its exuberance, and it should result in a very fine white Burgundy.

Bright lemon-yellow color. Very pure, vibrant aromas of lemon zest and crushed stone. Wonderfully intense and primary in the mouth, with the lemon zest flavor carrying through. The mounting, almost painful finish display powerful oyster-shell salinity that leaves the taste buds vibrating. This should evolve slowly and gracefully.
Rich and racy. Lots to enjoy. Pretty dense and impressive. Super-clean. (JR)
