Score 96/100 · Drink 2028-2043, Erin Brooks, Wine Advocate, Dec 2025

The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Palengat Clone 685 comes from the Mach One Vineyard in the Horse Heaven Hills. It has inviting aromas of blueberry, boysenberry and thyme and exotic, spicy undertones. The full-bodied palate is more open at this stage with pure, detailed flavors that unfurl continuously as the wine spends time in the glass. It’s framed by luxurious, powdery tannins and fireworks of fresh acidity and has a very long, layered finish. 1,325 cases were made.

The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Palengat is 100% varietal from Mach One Vineyard, Clone 685 grapes, a rarity for the region. Dominant in purple fruit and lavender, it has tremendous tension, beautiful aromatics, and a fine-tuned sense of precision and polish, just seamless nose to tail. Unctuous, luxurious, and dialed in at 1,325 cases, it’s richly powerful but so pleasurable to drink in its youth; I can only imagine how much more decadent it will become over the next 20-25 years.

This full-bodied, complex and sophisticated red has wonderfully fragrant aromas of pine cones, cloves, blueberries, black plums, rosemary, hot stones and black tea leaves. So polished and deep, with creamy and ripe tannins that spread across the palate. Beautiful. Very long. Clone 685 from the Mach One vineyard.

Shavings of cedar and pine give way to dried roses, gravel dust and crushed blackberries as the 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Palengat slowly unfolds in the glass. Cool-toned yet fleshy in feel, it sweeps across the palate with an array of ripe red and blue berries underscored by tactile minerals and sour citrus, as the finest tannins imaginable slowly collect toward the close. While structured, there's a lift and gracefulness to the 2022 that keeps the experience remarkably fresh, as it finishes with a pleasant bitter tinge and hints of cocoa.
