Score 91/100 · Drink 2018-2033, Jeb Dunnuck, Dec 2017

Black cherries, plums, graphite, and scorched earth notes all emerge from the 2014 Merlot, which also includes 12% Cabernet Sauvignon. Brought up in 40% new French oak, this plump, rounded, sexy beauty has no hard edges, notable purity, and a fresh, lively, clean style that’s going to drink nicely for 10-15 years.

The 2014 Merlot is soft, luscious and dense, with notes of chocolate, espresso bean, mulberry, and ripe cherry and plum. This is a big cuvée of 4,681 cases and was aged 18 months in 40% new French oak prior to being bottled. It’s a beauty to drink over the next 10 years.

Pride's 2014 Merlot is nicely lifted and aromatically expressive. Bright red stone fruit and floral notes are two of the signatures. This is a decidedly feminine, gracious Merlot. Soft tannins add to the wine's considerable near and medium term appeal.
