Tasting notes
The 2023 Pinot Noir Terra de Promissio Vineyard, matured for 15 months in 67% new French oak, is incredibly expressive! The nose is bursting with intense aromas of red and black cherries and plums, resinous herbs, tea leaves and lilac perfume, and it continues to reveal additional nuances as it airs in the glass. The medium-bodied palate pairs highly concentrated, detailed, crunchy flavors with fine-grained tannins and vibrant acidity, and it has a very long, layered finish. 765 cases were made.

From the Sonoma Coast, the 2023 Pinot Noir Terra De Promissio Vineyard is youthful ruby red color. On opening, it has just a hint of peppery reduction that blows off, though it’s well-managed, revealing notes of savory brambly berries. The palate has a cooling lift of fresh, savory notes, with refined tannins, a stony texture, hints of umami, and mouthwatering, salty freshness and acidity. It’s a lovely wine now, though it has long aging potential ahead. Drink 2026-2046. These are the spring releases from Williams-Selyem and were tasted with Vice President and Director of Winemaking Jeff Mangahas at the estate in the Russian River Valley.
