Incorporating a slightly higher proportion of whole clusters (30%) than the 2021 and a small proportion of Viognier (3%), the 2022 Syrah Larry Hyde & Sons Vineyard does have some slightly stemmy, greenish notes on the nose alongside olives and cherries. It's full-bodied, rounded and supple, perhaps a little less focused and complex than the 2021 but still reassuringly excellent, with a softly dusty finish.

Brought up in 30% new puncheons and co-fermented with 3% Viognier, the 2022 Syrah Larry Hyde And Sons Vineyard is beautifully done and has a ripe, forward bouquet of blackberries, lavender, peppery herbs, and a kiss of bacon fat. It's medium to full-bodied, round, fleshy, and beautifully textured. Drink bottles through 2032.
A round, plush Syrah that stays balanced and elegant, the 2022 Syrah Larry Hyde & Sons Vineyard has both red and blue fruits, lots of spice and savory herb and floral notes, medium body, soft tannins, and a great finish. It's going to be an upfront, sexy Syrah to drink it its first 5-7 years, and there's nothing wrong with that.
The 2022 Syrah Larry Hyde and Sons Vineyard is a gorgeous, open-knit offering from Phelps. Succulent dark cherry fruit, plum, blood orange, spice, chocolate and new leather give this fruity, up-front Syrah plenty of immediacy and overall appeal. The 30% stems are impeccably balanced. It spent 20 months barrel, 32% new.
