Tasting notes
Showcasing the classic characteristics of this Rhône grape, the 2020 Ceidleigh Syrah opens with a focus on spiciness and minerals, revealing the robust essence of Red Mountain terroir. Dark cherries and spice potpourri contribute to the aromatic profile. Medium to full-bodied, the wine is focused on the palate with a balanced structure that is accentuated by uplifting tannins and a lingering, food-friendly finish. I recommend cellaring for another year for optimal enjoyment. It will deliver synergistic pleasure when paired with food. Made from 40% whole-cluster Syrah grapes, the wine aged in 30% new French oak puncheons for 20 months. 4,428 bottles were produced.

The 2020 Syrah Ceidleigh Estate opens with a richly enticing bouquet that blends plums sauce with balsam herbs and brown spice. It’s soft and enveloping with mineral-tinged blackberry fruits and a hint of sour citrus, adding a spicy lift toward the close. This finishes with cheek-pucker tension and lightly structured, promising years of further development. I love the combination of richness and energy within. The Ceidleigh hails from Angel’s Vineyard in the Red Mountain AVA.
