Tasting notes
Pals straw-yellow. Spicy aromas of musky stone fruits, smoke and noble herbs, plus a whiff of pepper. Juicy, spicy and intense if a bit reduced, showing moderate complexity to its white peach and spice flavors. In a classically dry style.

Medium bright yellow. Reticent nose hints at peach. Dense and ripe but at the same time dry and serious, with lovely definition and energy for village wine. Very laid-back and nicely done. Finishes firm, classically dry and persistent.
The 2011 Puligny-Montrachet is a big, boisterous wine. There is plenty of depth and intensity, but the style is a bit obvious relative to Boillot's very finest village-level offerings. Apricots, pear eau de vie, hazelnuts and pears linger on the finish. The Puligny includes a portion of fruit from the premier cru Les Enseignières.

(Not yet released) Henri Boillot recently finished his move to a new modern cellar in Champ Lins, one of the industrial sections of Meursault. Boillot describes his 2011s as having a bit more richness and better balance of fruit and acidity than the 2010s. Based on what I tasted, it’s hard to argue that point. Boillot seems to be one case where the 2011s have the potential to be better across the board than the 2010s. As is often the case here, the village wines are particularly strong.
