Tasting notes
The 2019 Puligny-Montrachet Combettes 1er Cru has a pretty bouquet with touches of white peach, dried honey and potpourri—certainly one of the more floral Puligny Premier Crus I have come across. Perhaps it is a bit too showy? The palate is well balanced but bears a slightly overworked entry, coming across very pithy and with the oak not quite singing from the same hymn sheet as the fruit. This is smooth and almost viscous through a finish that needs just a little more tension—with time, I attributed that to minor TCA. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

Tasted blind. Pineapple candy, baked apple, toast, marzipan. Lots of opulence here. Event a bit of nuttiness emerging. Falls away a bit on the finish. Burgundy? (RH)
