Tasting notes
Glass-staining violet. Expansive, mineral- and spice-accented red and dark berry preserve, potpourri, cola and incense qualities on the finely detailed nose. Palate-staining, spice-laced cherry, Chambord, boysenberry and fruitcake flavors show remarkable energy for their depth. The spice and floral notes drive an impressively long, sappy finish that's framed by polished, slowly building tannins.

Lifted, herbal notes of mint, thyme and sage appear on the nose of the 2017 The Standish Shiraz. They're followed by waves of raspberries and more raspberries, fleshing out the full-bodied palate and lingering onto the long, silky finish, where they're joined by savory roasted-meat and espresso notes. While almost approachable now, a few years in the cellar surely wouldn't hurt.
Very deep and dense purple. Liquorice nose and delicious tussle between fruit and tannin. Great tension in the battle. Very impressive. (JR)
This is the most structured and assertive of the Standish portfolio of ultra premium Barossa reds. The pithy, blackberry and plum-flavored palate delivers a rich, impactive array of ripe and powerful fruit. Raw and delicious. Try from 2023.
