(Jean-Pierre Cournut picked these vines on the first day of his harvest): Bright medium yellow. Highly nuanced nose hints at citrus zest, minerals and honeysuckle. Initially quite tight in the mouth, with its saline flavors of white stone fruits and crushed rock sharpened and extended by brisk lemony acidity. But this very stylish, fine-grained wine really exploded with aeration, revealing terrific breadth and volume yet finishing with an impression of weightlessness to its rising, palate-staining flavors of citrus zest and stone. This wine should be long-lived in the context of the vintage.

(from a crop level of 22 hectoliters per hectare): Perfumed but reticent scents of white peach, orange oil and stone. Juicier and tighter today than the Clos du Château but purer too, with its penetrating citrus character accentuated by strong saline minerality. Finishes tight and long, with a slightly edgy quality and excellent punch and lift.
