The 2018 Chassagne-Montrachet En Cailleret 1er Cru is quite focused on the nose. Understated compared to its peers with scents of apple blossom, limestone and a hint of grilled almond. I admire the manner in which this opens in the glass. The palate is well balanced with a pithy entry, fine acidity, taut and fresh with a waxy-textured finish that fans out wonderfully. Sophisticated and bound to age well in bottle. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 white tasting.

The 2018 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Caillerets has turned out well, unwinding with scents of citrus oil, green apple, wet stones, fresh mint and pastry cream/ Medium to full-bodied, layered and charming, it's a comparatively open, giving rendition of Caillerets—but not at the expense of fine depth and precision.
The 2018 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Caillerets 1er Cru comes from vines around 50 years of age. It boasts a stunning bouquet, the crushed wet limestone, subtle citrus peel and light smoky notes emerging from the glass with exceptional delineation. The palate is supremely well balanced, with beautifully integrated oak, hints of vanilla pod and almond flakes that complement the steeliness and focus on the finish. Just a brilliant wine.
