Tasting notes
The 2017 Chablis Valmur Grand Cru is a wine of elegance, polish and total sophistication. Creamy, ample and beautifully resonant, Moreau's 2017 captures all of the natural radiance that is the principal Valmur signature. Apricot, peach, mint, yellow flowers, honey and a touch of French oak give the 2017 much of its considerable appeal. This is such a racy, expressive wine.

The 2017 Chablis Grand Cru Valmur is less demonstrative than the Vaudésir, unwinding in the glass with a bouquet of orange rind, fresh peach, confit citrus and fresh pastry that's nicely digested the new oak that was a little obtrusive 12 months ago. On the palate, it's full-bodied, glossy and textural, with a rich but tight-knit core. Right now, the Vaudésir would appear to have the edge, but time will tell.
I love the exotic fruit aromas here with a very flamboyant peach and mango feel. The fleshiness is so captivating. This is a star in Moreauâs cellar in 2017. Drink or hold.
Slight hint of wet wool already. Perhaps not quite as concentrated at the Vaillons. Pretty lively with a hint of lime sherbet but not 100% classic. (JR)
