2018 Domaine Ghislaine Barthod Chambolle-Musigny

The 2018 Chambolle-Musigny Village is showing beautifully, offering up aromas of cherries, raspberries and blood orange mingled with rich soil tones and hints of raw cocoa. Medium to full-bodied, succulent and lively, its ample core of beautifully succulent fruit is built around ripe, fine-grained tannins.

Not that expressive and decidedly chunky. Presumably the samples were not that well prepared? But this domaine is so popular that it will sell like hot cakes. (JR)

Matured in 20% new oak, the 2018 Chambolle-Musigny Village offers ripe red cherry, crushed strawberry and orange sorbet scents on the pretty nose. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannins and a little compact at the moment, with some hardness toward the finish that should soften by the time of bottling and with bottle age. A little gawky at the moment, but I think it will come round.
