Tasting notes
Deep ruby-red. Wild aromas of dark berries, leather and smoke; clean and pure but less fruit-driven than the Chevrets. Opulent, dense and large-scaled, with an almost chocolatey ripeness kept in check by a minty vivacity. The black cherry and dark raspberry flavors are not yet expressive, but this very backward and very long wine promises to be outstanding. Finishes with superb breadth and classy building tannins. This is aging in 70% new barrels, vs. 50% for the Chevrets and Clos de la Rougeotte.

Dark crimson with a very pale rim. Mossy, sweet, quite liquoreux attack and then lots of acidity but very svelte and round with an impressive amount buried underneath. This should be pretty impressive eventually. (JR)
