Bright yellow. Sexy aromas of orange zest, stone fruits, spices and flowers. Supple, sweet and ripe but with harmonious balancing acidity preventing the wine from coming across as heavy. Strong flavors of soft citrus fruits are complicated by sexy hints of toast and minerals. This rather thick wine's slightly dusty, edgy finish needs a few years to harmonize. (ST)

Softly spicy, and wonderfully elegant, aromas reflect notes of Asian-style tea, white flower, lemon grass and Granny Smith apples. The more refined if less seductively textured flavors possess notably more evident minerality and particularly so on the slightly more energetic, focused and complex finale.
The 2016 Meursault 1er Cru Genevrières has a relatively simple bouquet with light tropical tones intermingling with flecks of white chocolate and almond. The palate is ripe on the entry and feels very ripe, needing more tension and acidic drive. The finish is clean but a tad "fluffy." I loved the 2015 Genevrières, but the follow-up does not reach those heights because of the growing season rather than any shortcomings by the winemaker.
A little more herbal on the nose compared with Les Reuchaux, more cedar. And broader and spicier on the palate but also seems to have higher acidity. All very primary at the moment, almost fiery in its youth. Needs a good bit more time in bottle. (JH) 17.5++/20 Points.
