2007 Barolo Rocche Rivera

Luigi Oddero was known to have an eye for a top vineyard site. This one he bought in the early 1990s. Rocche dei Rivera forms part of the larger Scarrone vineyard, and is located high-up below the castello of Castiglione Falletto. So it was perfectly placed to avoid the worst of the heat and hail that afflicted the 2007 season. Mid ruby. Round and full and very ripe. Still quite tough. But a sweet start. Very hidden at the moment. But there is no shortage of material. (JR)
