Score 92-94/100 · William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Jan 2024

Exhibiting aromas of sweet red berries and cherries mingled with rose petals, orange zest, spices and smoke, the 2022 Corton-Pougets Grand Cru (Domaine des Héritiers Jadot) is medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, with a deep core of lively fruit, refined tannins and a long, resonant finish. This is always one of the highlights of the range, and this year's rendition is no exception.

The 2022 version of Jadot's Corton Pougets boasts a charismatic ripe plum and fig aroma with notes of earth and fresh flowers. The texture is silky and refined; the fruit ripens well in this south-facing site next to Le Charlemagne. The Jadot plot is planted to white wine at the top in the thin, rocky soils and Pinot in the siltier soils below. The grapes are destemmed and gently fermented before ageing in cask (one-third new); the delicious result demonstrates that both reds and whites are equally at home in this terroir.

Cask sample. Mid ruby. Fruit seems a little raw. The whole wine is extremely youthful and unresolved. It’s a bit too young for me even to guess at its likely evolution. Tannins dominate light cherry fruit. (JR)
