Score 96/100 · Drink 2021-2036, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, May 2022

The 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon - Grand Vin is one of the most impressive wines of the year. It possesses remarkable depth and tons of energy. Still quite fresh and full of energy, the 2011 will drink well for another 10-15 years. It is the most vibrant of the Kapcsandy 2011s. Sage, mint, lavender, pine and dried flowers linger on the persistent, articulate finish.

Medium ruby-red; deeper than the 2011 Roberta's. Classic Cabernet Sauvignon aromas of blackcurrant, blueberry, licorice and minerals, plus a whiff of cassis bud. Densely packed but also wonderfully juicy, with its dark berry, espresso and crushed rock flavors lifted by a spice element. This comes across as sweeter than the 2011 Roberta's, with its more complete integration of acids and tannins suggesting greater phenolic ripeness. Finishes sappy and very long, with a strong licorice quality. (13.7% alcohol; 100% new French oak)

89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, 1% Cabernet Franc. Very deep crimson. Very fine and luscious on the nose. Lovely spice and polish. Very appetising and with a dry finish. Lift on the finish. Much readier than a 2011 red bordeaux of the same class. (JR)

(includes 10% merlot and 1% cabernet franc; 100% new French oak): Black raspberry, tobacco, espresso, crushed rock and smoky oak aromas and flavors convey a powerful sense of place. Hugely rich and silky, offering a rare combination of inner-mouth perfume and sheer depth of fruit. This is even sweeter than the Roberta's today! Noble, seamless tannins hit the palate late, allowing the wine to open up spectacularly on the finish. A strong candidate for the cabernet of the vintage. Remarkably opulent for a wine with just 13.5% alcohol.
