Tasting notes
Blend of Pommard and Swan clones. Hand-picked, hand-sorted and destemmed. Five to seven days of cold maceration, more than two weeks of 100% ambient-yeast fermentation. The free-run wine was transferred to French oak (one-third new) for 15 months of ageing. Herbal, floral nose. Great structure with fine-grained tannins, subtle oak, plenty of concentration, lots to chew on. Will age very nicely but appealing already. Redcurrant fruit, classy wine which has a hint of Pommard about it. (AWH)

The 2019 Pinot Noir Golden Mean is similarly ruby-hued yet offers a more mineral, savory, iron-laced style as well as beautiful strawberry and raspberry fruit, medium-bodied richness, and building yet ripe, polished tannins that carry through the finish. The purity and precision on this puppy are something, and as with the other 2019s here, short-term cellaring is the name of the game.
The 2019 Pinot Noir Golden Mean comes from Swan and Pommard clone vines and was made with 15% whole cluster. Medium ruby-purple, it opens with touches of iodine that segue to rich black fruits and licorice. The palate is plush and silky with loads of floral character on the finish. It's youthfully wound and will improve over the next 2-3 years in bottle.
The 2019 Pinot Noir Golden Mean is an exciting, vibrant wine pulsing with energy. It's not the most obvious Pinot in the range, but the Golden Mean sizzles with tension. Red berry fruit, white pepper, mint and chalk lend a gorgeous top register of aromas and flavors. The Golden Mean is a blend of Pommard and Swan clones, done with about 15% whole clusters.
