The 1995 Romanée-Conti Grand Cru is a striking wine, wafting from the glass with aromas of red berries, wilted rose petals, hints of blood orange, exotic spices and forest floor, distinguished by its purity of fruit and aromatic range. Full-bodied, deep and seamless, it's supple and vibrant, with a crystalline core of fruit, beautifully refined tannins and a long, saline finish. More youthful than the Romanée-Saint-Vivant drunk alongside, it will be very long lived.

Superripe plum and currant aromas; shows the liqueur-like sweetness of La Tache. Thick, deep and even fuller than La Tache. Builds slowly but inexorably in the mouth. A core of exotic spices gives the flavor great complexity. Wonderfully persistent, authoritative back end.
An opulent, spicy, lush, highly floral and powerfully complex nose merges seamlessly with deep, classy, sappy, simply gorgeous, fresh flavors that offer incredible depth and purity of expression. Classy, pure and the length doesn't seem to quit. The 95 isn't an especially big wine and though it's by no means shy, the breadth of flavors and underlying nuance seems endless. If there is a nit, there is just a hint of finishing dryness that disappears with food but a careful taster will notice it. Otherwise, this is extremely impressive and though it can be approached now with extended airing, I would continue to cellar it and there is no question in my mind that it should continue to age effortlessly for years.
