Tasting notes
Glistening orange. Pungent cherry, blood orange and floral scents, along with suggestions of succulent herbs and chalky minerals. Weighty red berry, citrus fruit and candied lavender flavors show sharp delineation and pick up a deeper peach note with aeration. Silky and broad on the impressively long finish, which leaves a refreshingly bitter orange pith note behind.

Unfortunately, the sample of the 2017 Nuance Rose was corked, but the 2018 Bandol Rose is a solid representative of the appellation. At 65% Mourvèdre and 35% Cinsault, it eschews the rich fruit of Grenache in favor of citrusy power. Lime notes define this medium-bodied wine, showing ample intensity and persistence, even if they lack a bit of—dare I say it?—nuance.
