Tasting notes
Shaded crimson. Intense nose and then rather brutal fruit. Drying tannins. Needs time. (JR)

Like the grand vin, this second wine has no shortage of colour and a light nose. Lovely silky texture, so tiptop winemaking, but definitely skinny in the middle with a certain inkiness on the finish. The tannins are impressively ripe though. (JR)
Lovely berry and tobacco, with fine tannins and a fresh berry and cherry character. Long finish. Very good indeed. James Suckling, Wine Spectator 2003
Good full ruby color. Blackberry, licorice and tar on the nose. Lush, pliant and sweetly floral, with delicate, insinuating black fruit and licorice flavors and good density. A delightful young wine with easygoing, ripe tannins and very good length.
