Tasting notes
Saturated purple. Room-filling dark fruit liqueur, incense and candied violet scents are complemented by olive paste, black cardamom and star anise. Sappy blueberry and cassis flavors are energized by smoky mineral and peppery spice qualities, reaching every corner of the palate. Refuses to let up on the extremely long, penetrating, sharply delineated finish, which features harmonious tannins and resonating floral character.

The 2011 Syrah Seymour's Vineyard is the clear standout in 2011. Full-bodied, concentrated, beautifully textured and with superb ripeness, it offers lots of currants, tapenade, spice-box and smoked meats to go with a full-bodied, concentrated and even voluptuous feel on the palate. While this was backward and reserved during my tasting last year, it's come on like gangbusters since then and is one of the more approachable and forward Seymour's I've tasted.
