Tasting notes
Reluctantly, Bertrand Chevillon opened one bottle of his family’s 2000s, and it was wonderful. The medium to dark ruby-colored 2000 Nuits-St.-Georges Les Vaucrains bursts from the glass with coffee-infused blackberries and spices. Plump, lush, and juicy, this medium to full-bodied, silky-textured wine slathers the palate with supple, jammy black fruits, mocha, and spices. Seamless, friendly, and packed with fruit, it is a generous, forward offering that will deliver copious pleasure if drunk over the next 5-6 years. Bright, saturated ruby-red. Knockout nose combines blackberry, licorice, dark chocolate, smoked meat, leather and a whiff of blood orange. High-pitched, rather powerful black fruit flavors are complicated by a charry element of torrefaction. Finishes long and juicy. The most obviously structured of these '00s, along with the Cailles.
