The 2004 Nuits Saint-Georges Clos des Fôrets Saint-Georges 1er Cru has a very bucolic nose of decayed leaves and damp woodland scents permeating the vestige of red fruit. There is just a touch of VA here too. The palate is medium-bodied with very dry tannins and quite severe in the mouth, leading to a distinctly green finish. Drink up. Tasted at Sarah Marsh’s 2003/2004 tasting in London.

Pale ruby with some rust notes at the rim. Hint of green leaves and even a slightly sweaty note on top of the fruit. Sweetly composed fruit with a hint of hard candy. Medium body and certainly ready. Reasonably charming. (JR)
(this cuvee was vinified with all whole clusters, the exception here in 2004) Good full medium red. Explosive aromas of briary red berries, tobacco, underbrush and spices. Fat and sweet but with lovely lift in the mouth; shows much more dynamism than the Clos de l'Arlot. Dry in the style of the vintage but there's more flesh here and the wine is already approachable. Leriche notes that the estate harvested late in 2004, and bottled wines with 13% alcohol (13.3% for the Suchots) without chaptalization.
