Pale, bright yellow. White peach, crushed herbs and dusty stone on the nose, plus a touch of brown spices. Surprisingly sweet, rich and pliant on the palate but with strong acidity that hasn't yet integrated with the wine's fruit. Concentrated, saline wine with a very long finish. Offers outstanding potential.

The 2013 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru les Pucelles had a touch of reduction on the nose when I tasted it, although there is still plenty of concentration here, with grapefruit and melon scents neatly intertwined with the cold wet stone aromas. The palate is very well balanced with real weight and density in the mouth. This is a heavyweight les Pucelles that might not possess the elegance or finesse of the Folatieres, but reveals enormous persistence and power.
