Medium yellow. Less vintage-typical aromas of orange, nutmeg and flint. Then more vibrant in the mouth, with a fine-grained texture and enticing floral lift. A bit warm on the end, but finishes with very good thrust and length. This has finesse for a 2003.

The 2003 Puligny-Montrachet Folatieres (white) reveals a nose of smoky white fruits. Medium-bodied and velvety-textured, it reveals pulp-laden pears and white pepper in its lush, generous character. Slightly reduced aromas of white peach and mint. Showing more fat and depth of flavor today than the Clavoillons; this has lovely sweet fruit and a supple texture. There's more material here to buffer the wine's substantial alcohol.
