The 2021 Vosne-Romanée En Orveau 1er Cru has a relatively simple nose but clean fruit of raspberry and wild strawberry, gaining delineation in the glass. The palate is well balanced with a pastille-like entry, blackcurrant and a touch of cassis, though not complex and like a few other Vosne 1er Crus rather flatfooted towards the seaweed and slightly vegetal finish. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

The 2021 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru En Orveaux bursts with notions of sweet berries, cherries, burning embers, raw cocoa and forest floor. Full-bodied, ample and enveloping, it's layered and seamless, with good concentration and sweet, powdery structuring tannins.
