Tasting notes
Made entirely of Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon ERA is very deep purple-black colored and sashays out of the glass with gorgeous cassis, black cherries, wild blueberries and kirsch scents plus hints of cedar chest, tobacco, black olives, violets and dark chocolate. Full-bodied, rich and decadently fruited with firm yet plush tannins and seamless freshness, it finishes with epic length and depth. 1,200 cases produced.

A juicy and rich red with dark-berry and chocolate character. Full and savory with loads of spices, dark berries and hazelnuts. Chewy and tight right now. Needs three or four years to soften.
Only the second time this cuvée has been 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2016 ERA is a blend of all the single vineyards and what Jean considered the best wine. I can’t argue with him. This wine offers awesome notes of crème de cassis, crushed violets, crushed rocks, hints of mountain scrub brush, and lead pencil shavings. Deep and full-bodied, it has sweet tannins, no hard edges, and a great, great finish. There are 900 cases of this brilliant wine which will benefit from 2-3 years of bottle age and cruise for two decades.
The flagship Cabernet Sauvignon ERA is positively stunning in 2016. In fact, this may be the most complete and satisfying vintage of the ERA I have ever tasted. Readers should expect an opulent, hedonistically ripe wine. Even with all of its overt power, the 2016 is nuanced and absolutely impeccable in its balance. This is a gorgeous showing.
