Tasting notes
Score 95/100 · Jane Anson, Decanter, Dec 2024

Opens with a sweet hit of nectarine, apricot pit, citrus zest, crushed rose petals, a ton of grip. Intense aromatics where the fragrance builds through the palate, with plenty of length. Just don't expect a traditional Bordeaux Blanc. Planted on clay soils in the coolest location in the vineyard, on Riparia Gloire low yielding rootstock. This has got to be one of the very best dry whites that you can find in 2022 in Bordeaux, and such a fabulous story behind it, reaching into the history of the region. The Muscadelle is massal selected from a 100 year old plot from the Plageoles conservatory in southwest France, the Lauzet (sometimes spelt Lauset) was an old variety that used to be grown in Sauternes in early 18C to make a dry white wine, again massal-selected from a vine that winemaker Thomas Duroux tracked down in 2004 in the Pyrenees mountains. Just 2,000 bottle production. Drink: 2025-2035
