Score 96/100 · Drink 2022-2037, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Oct 2017
A wine of classic elegance, poise and energy. Scents of orange peel, star anise, spice and rosewater give the Montefico a decidedly exotic feel. The firm Montefico tannins are present, but the 2012 is a Barbaresco that favors finesse over power. As always, the Montefico has a very distinctive tannic grip as one of its key signatures. Today, the Montefico is perfumed, ethereal and exquisitely beautiful.

About the producer

Roagna
Roagna is one of Italy’s finest estates, producing top, single-vineyard Nebbiolos in Barbaresco and Barolo. The estate’s Crichët Pajé Barbaresco is one of the rarest fine wine cuvées in Piedmont with fewer than 2,000 bottles produced each year.
