Tasting notes
Low yields in a vintage blessed with perfect growing conditions resulted in a concentration of minerality that has kept this Kabinett vigorous till this day. There is only a small concession to its age of almost 30 years with a gentle waxy aroma, the sweetness of ripe fruit perfectly contained by a still-firm mineral grip. Very sprightly for an old timer. Bounces out of the glass – perhaps like Egon’s dog Egon ? The single most assertive wine so far. Very dense and complete and youthful with masses of acidity but also masses of fruit extract. Very confident and not even middle-aged. (JR)
Tastes quite dry and yet as though it has decades to go. Very pure. Still quite austere. (JR)
