Score 90/100 · Drink 2024-2030, Jeb Dunnuck, Dec 2024

A bright pink color, the NV Champagne 1er Cru Brut Rosé is composed of 40% Pinot Noir (15% of which is vin rouge), 30% Chardonnay, and 30% Meunier, with 88% from the 2021 vintage and the rest from 2020, all raised without the use of oak. The wine is expressive on opening, with a fruity profile revealing ripe notes of nectarine, crushed berries, candied flowers, and wet stone. Medium-bodied and pithy, it has an orange rind texture and a fluffy mousse. It gets a good deal of structure from the Pinot Noir and is more than a simple quaffer, with the ability to carry through a meal from start to finish. Drink it over the next 4-5 years. 6 grams per liter of dosage.

The NV Champagne Brut Rosé pours a medium pink, with almost an electric pink shimmer, and is floral and forward with macerated raspberry, orange oil, and flowers. Ripe and juicy, with generous fruit filling the palate, this is a wine for near-term drinking and enjoyment over the next 6 to 8 years.

Disgorged in July 2019, the latest release of Gaston Chiquet's NV Brut Rosé Premier Cru is showing very well, bursting with aromas of fresh peach, red berries, mint, green apples, rhubarb and pastry cream. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, crisp and fleshy, with a charming core of fruit, racy acids and a lingering, flavorful finish. This is an elegant, inviting Rosé based on Pinot Meunier.
