Tasting notes
The 2019 Les Gravières is still modern and rather smudged in style, quite opulent and missing a little delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with decadent, ripe, mocha- and Chinese-five-spice-tinged black fruit, but I find the finish a bit labored. A second bottle showed more delineation and complexity.

The 2019 Les Gravières a wine of tremendous distinction, and a major sleeper. Ripe red cherry, rose petal, spice, crushed rocks, menthol and licorice are all finely sculpted. Readers will find a deep, mineral-driven Saint-Émilion of real distinction. The purity and vivid delineation of the flavors is just remarkable. Tasted two times
The 2019 Les Gravières has an upfront, modern-style bouquet with layers of vanillary new oak that cloak the black cherry and blueberry fruit. The palate is chewy on the entry with tarry black fruit and good acidity. I find the finish exhibiting more the winemaking than the terroir compared to its peers.
The 2019 Les Gravières is a wine of real class and bearing. Aromatically expansive and creamy, the 2019 opens up beautifully in the glass. Crushed rose petal, cinnamon, raspberry jam, licorice and new leather add freshness to this mid-weight, beautifully expressive Saint-Émilion. Tasted three times.
