Very pale straw. Nervy nose. Very fine and tight. Absolutely not like the supposed archetype of Meursault. Introvert and tense. Not that long but pretty impressive. Doesn’t taste like a rich 2009 burgundy… Lots of wet stones on the end. Just a tad austere. (JR)

Tasted blind at Farr Vintners Kumeu/White Burgundy tasting. There is a slight blowsiness on the nose of the 2009 Meursault from Domaine des Comtes-Lafon: not as clean as I would have liked, the fruit not expressive. The palate is sharp on the entry with sour lemon dominating the mid-palate. Sharp and rather abrasive, this is very atypical for a 2009 white Burgundy, and it feels slightly attenuated on the finish. I wonder if this is the most representative bottle.
(bottled in March of this year): Medium straw-yellow. Complex nose melds stone fruits, flowers, honey and hazelnut. Lush and sweet in the mouth, with a perfumed orange blossom quality giving the wine a light touch. Finishes suave, harmonious and persistent. Lovely village wine
The 2009 Meursault is a classy, understated wine laced with white peaches, pears and flowers. It reveals attractive inner sweetness and perfume with a refined, polished finish.
