The 2007 Chambolle-Musigny Les Cras 1er Cru has a slightly deeper hue compared to the 2000. Red berry fruit is laced with morels, pressed rose petals, leather and incense, quite complex and involving. The palate is medium-bodied with commendable depth considering the season. Pure red fruit with wonderful piquancy, hints of white pepper and clove lead towards quite a weighty and compelling finish. This surpasses my expectations and constitutes an impressive 2007 that is à point . Tasted blind at the Roumier Les Cras vertical at Medlar, London.

The 2007 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Cras is exceptional, offering up a beautifully pure bouquet of red cherries, raspberries and peony, with scant sign of the tertiary nuances to come. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, satiny and glossy, with a succulent core of fruit that largely conceals its tannic frame, concluding with a long, chalky finish that's firmly stamped by the terroir of Les Cras.
Rich, sweet and fresh with strong, sweet red cherry fruit. Very clean and zesty with a dry finish. Spicy and textured on the finish. Very satisfying. (JR)
Good medium red. Black raspberry, spices and minerals on the nose. Then concentrated, sweet and intense, with lovely cut to the flavors of dark fruits and pepper. This, too, is blacker in character than the 2008 version but boasts excellent intensity and plenty of lift. Finishes with fine, dusty tannins and noteworthy persistence.

Based in Chambolle-Musigny, the domaine was established by Georges Roumier in 1924. The domaine started to bottle their own wines in 1945.
