Wonderfully interesting nutty notes on the nose, very light and fresh with real vivacity. Not the concentrated monster one associates with Leroy's early vintages! Lovely and very fresh. Great delicate balance. Lovely now. Decidedly pretty – the sort of wine you never find outside Burgundy. This was the group's third favourite red burgundy. (JR)
Leroy's Romanee-St.-Vivant has seemingly taken on weight, substance, and structure since I tasted it a year ago. Dark plums, spices, mocha, and dried prunes burst from the glass. This medium-to-full-bodied liquid velvet is packed with chewy red and black fruits. Projected maturity: 2005-2010+.
About the producer

For many, Domaine Leroy represents the pinnacle of fine Burgundy. Owned and run by the legendary Lalou Bize-Leroy, the domaine in Vosne-Romanée is one strand of the Leroy empire, along with Maison Leroy and Domaine d’Auvenay.
