Score 17/20 · Drink 2024-2031, Tamlyn Currin, jancisrobinson.com, Jan 2025
Vines planted in 1994, a mix of three clones: P58 (43%), 96 (28%) and 95 (15%). Easterly aspect, 200 m. Hand-picked 21–29 March 2022 (2–4.6 t/ha). Whole-bunch pressed to small- and large-format oak (15% new). Spontaneous fermentation and natural malo (76%) and aged for 10 months in oak. TA 6.2 g/l, pH 3.26. Broader and rounder than the Wallis and Judd. Lacy buttery notes and creamy praline filling the crannies between fresh but also pretty lush nectarine and yellow-peach fruit. More cashmere and 'billowy' in texture, giving the wine a sense of pliancy and gentleness. But not taking anything away from its freshness and lift. (TC)
