Tasting notes
The 2015 Vieux Maillet is plush, dark and inviting. A blast of inky blue/purplish fruit, chocolate, cloves and new leather fills out the wine's frame effortlessly. This is a decidedly sumptuous, voluptuous style. Best of all, the 2015 will drink well upon release.

The 2015 Vieux Maillet is medium garnet-purple in color with a nose of tar, rubber and scorched earth with black plums and blackberries plus a hint of garrigue. The palate is medium-bodied and just a little lean, with appealing freshness and purity.
Lifted nose. Both rich and racy. Dry finish. Just a bit too tough on the end. And a little weak in the mid palate. (JR)
The 2015 Vieux Maillet is an attractive, if somewhat one-dimensional wine. Black cherry, plum, violet and mint notes abound. Even with all of its intensity, however, the 2015 retains lovely freshness, cut and verve. The mid-weight style is all about subtlety. Violet and plum notes add nuance on the finish, but once again it is the wine's freshness and energy that are most impressive in the way they balance the essentially fruit-driven style.
