Tasting notes
The Merlot-dominated 2022 Firebelle (77% Merlot and 23% Cabernet Sauvignon) has a spicy, complex, medium-bodied style as well as savory redcurrant and cherry fruit, some savory herb and tobacco nuances, fine yet present and building tannins, and outstanding length. It's nicely balanced, has solid mid-palate depth, and a great finish. It's an impeccably made 2022 that should easily evolve for 10-12+ years if well stored. Drink 2025-2037.

A 77-23 blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, Larkmead's 2022 Firebelle spent 22 months in 65% new French oak, acquiring a rich patina of mocha and scorched sugar overtones to the bright, red cherry fruit. It's full-bodied in the mouth but also supple and well-rounded, generous in feel and flavor yet seems to fade a little in intensity on the finish.
