One of Oregon's first "century" (meaning $100 a bottle or more) wines, Archery Summit's 1998 Archery Summit Estate is medium to dark ruby-colored and exhibits blackberry, dark cherry, and vanilla-infused oak scents. Medium to full-bodied, firm, concentrated, and strict, this highly structured, strawberry and black fruit-packed wine is a masculine, intense, and powerful offering. While it is, at present, closed and foursquare, its formidable layers of fruit, outstanding depth, and highly present yet ripe tannins promise a long and successful life. Anticipated maturity: 2005-2012+. Tel. 503-864-4300.

Bright ruby-red. Spicy, vibrant aromas of blackberry, cassis, violet and licorice. Dense, lively flavors of crushed black cherry and blackberry, with a tight core of spice and complicating notes of cocoa powder and licorice. Offers a lovely penetrating sweetness. Finishes fairly tannic but not hard, with a pronounced oaky element.
