Tasting notes
The 2021 Chassagne-Montrachet Clos Saint-Jean 1er Cru comes from 2.5-hectares at the top of the vineyard (Pinot Noir and Chardonnay). This has a more backward nose, quite a lot of extract here, slightly nutty and Meursault-like. The palate is medium-bodied with a little more flesh, dried honey and peach skin, a little white pepper and veins of ginger towards the finish. Excellent.

Bursting with aromas of sweet red berries, peonies, orange zest and spices, Pillot's 2021 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos Saint-Jean Rouge is medium to full-bodied, fleshy and seamless, with a layered, complete profile, melting tannins and a perfumed finish. This parcel is cultivated with a lot of manual work, including "tressage" instead of hedging, representing something of a passion project for Thierry.
