From the well known vineyard, one of the highest in Clare Valley, originally planted in 1968. Fermented in stainless steel with the yeasts isolated way back by previous owner and founder Brian Croser. Bottled as early as June 2016. Deep straw colour. Lime and just a hint of TDN on the nose with a certain talc-like perfume. Chalky texture and absolutely bone dry with very marked acidity but good fruit too. Very much in the Australian austere idiom. Aimed straight at those who have a horror of any residual sugar. I can imagine this being rather hard work last year, and it was more friendly from a half-full bottle tried a week after opening, kept in the fridge of course. (JR)
