Ponsot's 1976 Clos de la Roche Grand Cru Cuvée Vieilles Vignes is drinking beautifully today, offering up a pure bouquet of sweet red fruits, baking spices, truffle and vine smoke, followed by a deep, full-bodied, satiny palate that's fleshy and mouth-filling, with the broad shoulders typical of this bottling, concluding with a long, resonant finish. I initially acquired only one bottle of this wine, from a local merchant; but as soon as I tasted it, I immediately purchased the remaining three!
