Restrained aromas of orchard fruits, orange peel, acacia blossom and stone. Suppler than the Garenne, showing a hint of pineapple, but also quite dry and tight. Will this expand in the bottle? An impression of saline extract suggests that it will.

The 2013 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru la Truffière was totally closed on the nose when I tasted it from vat. The palate is nicely balanced with leesy, citrus fruit and moderate weight, perhaps showing the acidity on the finish that will lend it more race than the la Garenne once in bottle. This may merit a higher evaluation once in bottle.

Distinctly rocky on the nose, offering medicinal herb and menthol notes. Surprisingly broad and voluminous for a Puligny-Montrachet following a group of Chassagne samples, but still quite dry and unevolved, showing edgy citrus and wet stone flavors. Builds nicely on the finish, revealing more texture with air.
