Crisper than the B Leroux Tête du Clos Chassagne 2009 served alongside – finely chiselled as always with this producer, but, most unusually, slightly oxidised. Jasper reported this was the first time he had encountered an Ente wine with even a whiff of premature oxidation. It was still very well made and precise with great density. But it was broad and pungent and seemed on the way down. Unexpected. (JR)

Rich and custardy enlivened by a strong lemon and lime streak. Excellent acidity but aromatically fully evolved. No desperate hurry to drink this wine that stood up very well to a Lafon Montrachet of the same vintage. Very precise. (JR)

Sweet, complex aromas of apricot, oatmeal, clove, iodine and grilled oak. Supple and sweet but at the same time bracing thanks to strong but ripe acids. This impressively broad wine really coats the palate. Finishes with superb length. This was aged in 35% new barriques, whereas the 2005 was done entirely in demi-muids
