Tasting notes
Mature mid ruby with bright orange rim. Deep, multilayered nose of spice, garden herbs, cherry and iron. Subtle cherry fruit on the palate with underlying, grainy tannins. Grip and fruit concentration on the finish. Seductive yet serious. (WS)

A fabulous example of the vintage, the 2000 Barolo Vigneto Arborina offers gorgeous exuberance, yet also retains considerable freshness, especially compared to so many other wines of the year. The flavors are dark and boldly sketched throughout, but it is the wine's voluptuous, layered personality that stands out most. Like so many wines in this tasting, the 2000 is a wine I would have like to spend more time with, as it just keeps getting better and better in the glass.
The 2000 Barolo Arborina is impossible to resist. Layers of dark, sensual fruit wrap around the palate effortlessly in this intense, layered Barolo. This shows more depth and richness than the straight Barolo, with just as much class. Altare's 2000 Barolo Arborina represents the height of elegance.

Elio Altare has always been a huge proponent of the 2000 vintage. Retasting his 2000s, it’s easy to see why. The wines have great intensity of fruit, approachable personalities and plenty of structure to support continued cellaring. I am thrilled to have the wines in my cellar.
