The 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon Cask 23 is more complete, with cassis and darker currant-like fruit to go with a mineral-laced style in its leafy tobacco, chocolate, and graphite-driven aromas and flavors. It's another dense, inward, concentrated 2020 with ripe tannins, good balance, and solid length on the finish.

The 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon Cask 23 is a very good wine in this vintage. It offers notable poise and persistence. Naturally, definition and focus—qualities found in the best years—are not especially evident, but the 2020 is nicely done just the same. Sumptuous red fruit, spice, cedar, leather and blood orange linger.
The 2020 Cask 23 Cabernet Sauvignon deliveries a bouquet redolent of black cherries, dusty earth and cassis. Full-bodied, it's round, opulent and ripe but framed by tannins that grow increasingly firm on the lingering finish. Give it some time—it could evolve into a true classic.
Notes of blackberries and blackcurrants with dark chocolate, tobacco leaf, spice box and nut shell. Full-bodied with an array of finely polished, silky tannins and seamless, sleek texture. Compact and a little tight in the middle, yet refined with a deep dark fruit backbone. Long and smooth. Try after 2025.

Warren Winiarski founded Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars in 1970 when he purchased the Stag’s Leap Vineyard in Napa’s Stags Leap District. The 1973 S.L.V. Cabernet Sauvignon – only the second vintage – won the famous 1976 Judgement of Paris blind tasting, rocketing the estate to fame.
