FINE+RARE Tasting Note

Viscous – syrup-like texture of forest fruits. Fleshy, jammy, fruity mid palate and moderate tannin structure suggest mid term ageing Pessac. Some light earthy spice adds complexity but more acid, vibrancy and freshness would provide better balance. Warming and mushroom notes on the finish suggest touch out of balance.

55% Sémillon, 45% Sauvignon Blanc. Harvested in August. Fermented in barrels ranging from new to fourth fill. No malolactic conversion. Aged for eight months with lees-stirring. Bottled 22 June 2020. RS 2.5 g/l, TA 6.72 g/l, pH 3.16. Total SO 2 116 mg/l, free SO 2 34 mg/l. Tense and taut, and more of a long-term prospect than the other two white bordeaux in this Wine Society tasting. Serious and fine. Saline finish. (JR)

The 2019 Clos Floridène is such a gorgeous wine. Silky and polished to the core, the 2019 is exceptionally beautiful. Crushed flowers, red berry fruit, cinnamon, licorice and blood orange all grace this mid-weight, nuanced Graves. All the elements are so well balanced. Superb.
